I don’t know how effective ALA is in terms of improving glucose control, but it is a well known anti-inflammatory and may help prevent/treat heart disease and or nerve complications (neuropathy) in diabetics to some degree.
As always, be sure to check with your doctor before starting any supplements. Some may interact with medications you are on or require a dosage change. You should be fine with ALA though in typical therapeutic doses.
I have been using it for a while. It seems to help get my numbers down a bit. I take it with Evening Primrose Oil, the two work better together. It won’t control diabetes by itself, but it does help.
